In 1967, Klein Skelcher started the Skelcher’s Concrete Products company located in Carbondale, IL. Klein and his sons, Mike & Cliff Skelcher, offered concrete septic tanks for sale and were early adopters of Jet aeration systems. Soon after, Skelchers Concrete became an authorized dealer of Jet and produced concrete Jet Aeration Systems at their plant. For over 50 years, Skelchers Concrete Products has served the Southern Illinois region with expert wastewater treatment solutions.
The Skelcher family retired from the business and sold Skelcher’s Concrete Products to Jeff Collins in January of 2014. The company continued to manufacture and offer installation, service, and sales for Jet Aeration Systems. The new owners didn’t change anything and continued to offer repairs, maintenance, and replacement on any type of aeration or septic system.

In 2015 Jeff acquired the Milani Septic Services company that was based in Herrin, IL. The company name was then officially changed to Skelcher-Milani Septic Service. By combining these two companies, we are able to offer tank pumping services and also added two lines of fiberglass tanks to our products. The first of which is the Nayadic aeration systems which are fiberglass and fit easily into difficult terrain or tight lots. The other system is the Multiflow aeration system which is also fiberglass and features a filter sock array that offers superb filtration if the system is properly maintained.
Skelcher-Milani Septic Services has evolved over time to offer the most complete septic-related services throughout Southern Illinois. We are driven to give our customers all of the solutions for their toughest septic needs in a cost-effective and timely manner. We strive to do this now and for the next 50+ years!
Pricing is determined by many factors;
• The number of bedrooms in the home determines the size of the system. (500 Gallon Per day to 1500 gallon per day.)
• The type of system wanted. IE Septic tank with leach field, sand filter or lagoon, or an aeration system.
• Any system with subsurface seepage will require a soil scientist to read the soils on the site to determine suitability for subsurface drainage. This is an extra cost payable to the soil scientist.
• The discharge pipe total run length, over 100 feet, incurs extra price.
• Permit prices vary by county.
• A lot under 1 acre in size may require variances and possibly underground infiltration.
• The terrain can affect the price. Flat lots may require a lift station, at extra cost.
• A basic Aeration installation for 4 bedrooms or less, on a lot with sufficient grade to surface discharge the system, that is also 1 or more acres start around $7,500.00. Special circumstances and 10 bedrooms could push the price to around the $20,000.00 ballpark.
• We offer free estimates on system installations and prefer to visit the site to give an accurate estimate.
